Pocket Color Wheel
This is a must have tool. You will use it everyday!
Week #1 we will go over some of the basics of the Color Wheel. When I first started I had no clue what the color wheel was all about. In an "ideal" world of color, there would only be 3 pigments, all color would be mixed from these 3 Primaries. But every pigment is contaminated with another color. No pure Red, Yellow or Blue. So what does this mean.......we have to understand what are the properties or as I like to call it "Color Personalities". That is why I use a "Basic Palette", a warm & cool of each Primary.
On page 3 I talk about "Color Scheme Layouts"..... we will go over this more next week as I wanted to cover the basic color wheel first.

So you'all can guess what they think????? Thanks for hanging in there with the "blog log in" issues...but I hope we have all that worked out...
Remember you can always email me with your questions.......

Mary, why one warm colour and two cool colours?
ReplyDeleteEveryone that is in, please leave me a comment. I'm pretty sure everything is working the way they told me it would. Whey!!!!! Yea!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm in!! Thank you so much for doing this!
ReplyDeleteI am in - can I substitute another yellow for permanent yellow? I have a small old tube but never use it. So I can use it for this workshop but the question is, will I use it again. I have cad yellow, lemon yellow, azo yellow, aureolin(cobalt yellow) , hansa yellow, nickeltitanate yellow -honestly, I think I have taken way too many workshops & bought every tube suggested!!! Thanks for doing this, Bonnie
ReplyDeleteHey Bonnie, Lemon Yellow would be great, also Aureolin yellow is a good transparent. You want a cool, that means it has some blue (looks greenish).Azo I think is opaque, hansa is good, but It has a lot of white. I would put them out on my palette, if your painting from a still life or photograph if looks like the color use it. I just use the 6 colors so you don't have to buy 500 of each. But before I go out and buy more I would use them. I think you will have enough for a few years !!! I have a box full too.
