Pocket Color Wheel

This is a must have tool.  You will use it everyday!

Week  #1 we will go over some of the basics of the Color Wheel.  When I first started I had no clue what the color wheel was all about.  In an "ideal" world of color, there would only be 3 pigments, all color would be mixed from these 3 Primaries.   But every pigment is contaminated with another color.  No pure Red, Yellow or Blue.  So what does this mean.......we have to understand what are the properties or as I like to call it "Color Personalities".  That is why I use a "Basic Palette", a warm & cool of each Primary.

On page 3 I talk about "Color Scheme Layouts".....  we will go over this more next week as I wanted to cover the basic color wheel first.

If you have any questions once you have read "Step I" & viewed the video,  leave a comment below on the blog.  I will get back to ya!  Enjoy!

FYI....I'm totally blown away with the response of this "online workshop"  to date we have about 150 attendees, the editing of the "video" was a very new trick for an old dog.....my grand kids are here in Florida visiting.....plus 4 great grand kids....!!! So you'all can guess what they think????? Thanks for hanging in there with the "blog log in" issues...but I hope we have all that worked out...

Remember you can always email me with your questions.......

  4. I am in - can I substitute another yellow for permanent yellow? I have a small old tube but never use it. So I can use it for this workshop but the question is, will I use it again. I have cad yellow, lemon yellow, azo yellow, aureolin(cobalt yellow) , hansa yellow, nickeltitanate yellow -honestly, I think I have taken way too many workshops & bought every tube suggested!!! Thanks for doing this, Bonnie

  5. Hey Bonnie, Lemon Yellow would be great, also Aureolin yellow is a good transparent. You want a cool, that means it has some blue (looks greenish).Azo I think is opaque, hansa is good, but It has a lot of white. I would put them out on my palette, if your painting from a still life or photograph if looks like the color use it. I just use the 6 colors so you don't have to buy 500 of each. But before I go out and buy more I would use them. I think you will have enough for a few years !!! I have a box full too.
